What are the premium rates for the farmers under PMFBY?

Kharif – Food Grains & Oil Seeds – 2% of Sum Insured (SI) or Actuarial Rate, Rabi – Food Grains & Oil Seeds – 1.5% of SI or Actuarial Rate, Kharif – Horticulture & Commercial Crops – 5% of SI or Actuarial Rate

What is the sum insured for loanee farmers?

Loanee farmers are to be covered at least equal to the amount of crop loan sanctioned/advanced for notified crops, upto the value of the threshold yield of the insured crop.

What is the limit of Sum Insured for availing Premium subsidy?

Actuarial premium on sum insured upto 100% of threshold yield of notified areas is eligible for Government subsidy, but there is no provision for subsidy beyond 100% sum insured.

What is weather-based crop insurance?

Weather Based Crop Insurance insures farmers against financial loss due to crop loss resulting from adverse weather conditions like rainfall, temperature, frost, humidity etc.

Will I be eligible for claims under crop insurance due to price fluctuation?

Yes. During the harvest season, if the notified market price drops lower than the guaranteed price, then the farmer’s claim will be compensated by the insurance company.

What happens in case of fraudulent claim?

If any fraudulent claim is made by the Insured or anyone acting on his/her behalf, all benefits under the policy shall be forfeited and the policy will cease to be operational for the insured.
